It is with great sadness that the family of Sandra I. Gagnon (Murphy) announces her passing on December 18, 2020, at the age of 81, due to complications with Covid-19. Born in Leominster, MA on November 21, 1939, she was the daughter of Winnie and Alton Murphy.
Sandra attended and graduated from Lancaster High School. During that time her caring and giving began at the Perkins School in South Lancaster, MA. In her early years she resided in the Leominster area, raised a family of four and later added one more child before blending an additional six to make eleven in total. Later in life she moved to Maine, met the love of her life, Paul Gagnon, and they married in 1999. He was a true gentleman and devoted husband. Shortly after marrying they joined the Southern Maine Church of Christ. While there she would faithfully attend services and find ways to give of herself to her neighbors and friends. Through them she continued to aid families and children in her community.
Her role in life as a homemaker, wife, mother, sister and daughter was one of dedication and purpose. She was ever caring and tireless in all she did. She was an accomplished hostess in family dinners, holiday meals, potluck dinners or backyard cookouts. She loved to pamper children with her ever-ready molasses cookies.
Her memory is treasured by her children Michael Lamarche, Carrie Lamarche, Scott Lamarche and Richard Lamarche which includes Ronald Knoll, Richard Knoll, Larrie Knoll, Holly Eddy, Sylvia Knoll, Sally Knoll and Amy Bush: her sister and brother in law Evelyn and Peter Wolenty and sister-in-law Dianne Murphy: Paul's family, all the great grandchildren, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and her legion of friends. She also had many treasured relationships with the spouses throughout her large family.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Paul J. Gagnon, brother David Murphy and her parents.
A church service for Sandra and graveside services for Sandra and Paul are to be held once the Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Southern Maine Church of Christ.
