Sallie Duncan, a resident of Biddeford, Maine, passed away on January 11, 2021 at the Southern Maine Center in Portland, Maine. Born on September 26, 1959 in Farmington, MI., she was the youngest of Ann and Jim Copenhaver’s three daughters.
As a young child, she and her family moved to Lake Bluff, Illinois, living there throughout her childhood. She attended Hope College in Michigan and graduated with a BA in English.
Sallie was a devoted bookworm who found pleasure gaining knowledge and traveling the world through her books. She enjoyed sharing conversations about the books she read and recommending her favorites.
She was a loyal and hardworking employee at the local Walmart in Scarborough. She was a familiar face to many, after working there for 10 years in several different departments.
She was a supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association by participating in their Alzheimer Walk to End Alzheimer’s, in honor of her Mother Ann.
Sallie was a mother, sister and friend. Her impact on her family was one of love and support. She is survived by her loving children; Bruce Bengtson, Bethany Bengtson, Timothy Bengtson and his wife Daima Avila; her sisters and their spouses, Susan and Stephen O’Byrne and Carolyn and Thomas Swarthout.
