Roland Bourque of Biddeford, Maine passed away peacefully on March 12, 2021 at Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth, Maine after a long battle with Alzheimers. Roland was born on September 3, 1954 to Jeannette and Rene Bourque.
Roland graduated from Biddeford High School in 1973 and shortly after met his soulmate, Debbie. The two have been married for 42 loving years and have two children and four grandchildren.
Roland loved riding on his motorcycle more than anything. He enjoyed the simple things in life like the warm breeze on a summers day. Family and friends would often drive by him riding on two wheels whether it was his motorcycle or bicycle with a huge smile on his face. If it was above freezing he’d even ride his motorcycle in the winter any chance he got. He loved long walks on the beach and feeling the presence of the ocean. Debbie and Roland spent many a days feeling the sand in their toes and breathing in the fresh air off the coast.
Roland was full of life and it was rare when he wasn’t busy doing something he enjoyed. He loved to dance and twirl to his favorite songs and even the cheesy department store tunes brought out his signature dance moves. He had a talent for making people feel welcome, especially children. Everyone knew he had an undeniable connection with kids and made them laugh uncontrollably. He enjoyed conversing with those around him and easily made friends out of strangers.
He enjoyed his job at the City of Biddeford Public Works where he was proudly employed most of his adult life. Every time you drive by a stop sign or pass a street corner you can smile and wonder if Roland might’ve made it.
He enjoyed supporting Biddeford sports, even after his children were long graduated. Every child in his family could count on finding him cheering them on during their athletic events.
In the last 10 years, Alzheimers slowly took Roland from his family and they’ve missed his infectious personality, but they’re rejoiced to know that he can be in their life once again and see who they’ve become. He’s no longer struggling to remember and he can finally be himself.
It’s easy to imagine that Roland is riding around on his motorcycle and visiting his loved ones again.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jeannette and Rene Bourque and infant brother.
His loved ones left to cherish his memory include his wife Debbie Bourque, son Corey Bourque and wife Niki with their daughters Scarlett and Quinn, daughter Megan Fournier and husband Joe with their daughter Ellie and son Cooper. Also siblings Jerry Bourque and wife Lori, and Ricky, Roger, and Donald Bourque; in-laws Mike and Gary Lajoie and Sheryl Fournier along with their spouses; and many nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and cousins to remember him.
A funeral service for Roland will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St. Biddeford, ME 04005. Visitation will be from 10 AM – 11 AM at the funeral chapel.
