Robert J. Guerette, 94, of Old Orchard Beach, ME passed peacefully at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House on Friday, March 19, 2021. Robert was born in St. Quentin, New Brunswick, Canada in Restigouche County. His family moved to the United States during his childhood where Robert begin working as a young man before entering the United States Army to serve in WWII. For his efforts he was awarded a WWII Victory Medal for his dedicated time in the military. Afterwards he moved to the Hartford, CT area where he began driving tractor trailers. He eventually made his way to Southern Maine where he would marry his wife at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford on May 21, 1949. He owned and operated the Gull Motel in Old Orchard Beach before retiring in the mid-1980s. Robert was also a member of The Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco as well as a member of the local VFW and Knights of Columbus. He loved to work outside, spend time making picnic tables, and never passed a game of golf with his friends.
Robert was the last of his eleven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Theresa Guerette, and their daughter Barbara (Harland) Zenahlik. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Marisa (Brady) Coulombe and Ryan Zenahlik, and his adored pets of the family – Marlo, Maximo, and Gage.
