Rachel L Couture, 91, was born in Biddeford, Maine to Wilbrod Morin and Marie Beatrice Cyr Morin. After graduating from the 8th grade at St. Joseph’s School she started working at York Hill Mill in Biddeford in the Cotton Textile Manufacturing Department. One of Rachel’s passions was style and fashion, she enjoyed clothes shopping and had an eye for putting outfits together.
Rachel was a kind-hearted, loving soul that meant the world to her family and friends. She married Rudolphe Couture in May of 1951. Her career as a homemaker began in 1953. She gave birth to three children, two sons and a daughter. Rachel took great pride in being a wife, mother and grandmother. She committed her life to raising a family.
Rachel enjoyed spending time with her sisters who meant so much to her since they had depended on one another through growing up during difficult times. She created a particularly special bond with her granddaughter, Brooke. As her granddaughter would say, “Mem you are like a second mother to me.” Her friends always saw her as a sweet lady and a great friend.
Rachel leaves behind her son, Michael Couture his wife Dede Couture, granddaughter Michaela, great-grandson, Liam. Her daughter, Janice Couture, granddaughter Brooke Cambridge her partner, Jennifer Craig and a son, Bruce Couture his husband Marcel Gagnon.
Rachel is predeceased by Rudolphe Couture, Beatrice Provencher, Gertrude Volles, Theresa Thibault and Henry Morin.
Funeral service is at Hope Memorial Chapel in Biddeford on Thursday, June 11 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral mass is at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford on Friday, June 12 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
