Pauline T. Lemire

August 28, 1928 ~ January 7, 2020 (age 91)

Pauline T. Lemire, 91, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on January 7, 2020, following a brief illness.  She was born August 28, 1928 in Berlin, NH, the daughter of Wilfred and Berthe (Bisson) Lessard.
She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, and following her graduation, she married Henry C. Lemire. They lived in Berlin for 35 years, and in 1962, they moved to North Miami, FL for a brief period of time, before ultimately settling in Old Orchard Beach, Maine in 1963. For many years, they owned a seasonal business consisting of renting cabins to visiting tourists, and running a gas station and miniature golf course. They worked very hard, and Pauline also ran a tight ship with the household. She often referred to herself as a home engineer, and took pride in the fact that she was always able to stump the guy at the beach who tried to guess people’s occupations. After selling the business, she and Henry worked for the Good Shepherd Sisters in Biddeford, until their retirement.  She remembered with fondness her time spent there. Pauline and Henry enjoyed 53 years of marriage before Henry’s death in 2001.  Pauline left their home in Old Orchard Beach and moved into the Paul Hazelton House in Saco, where she lived for nearly 18 years. She often referred to those years as among the happiest of her life, having made many wonderful friends there. She spoke about them with love, until her death.
We will always remember our mother Pauline for the love that she gave us, and the lessons in love that she taught us. She held family in the highest regard, above all else. She led her life with honesty, responsibility and integrity, and by example taught us to do the same, while staying true to ourselves. We are blessed to have had such a strong and loving role model, and she will live forever in our hearts.
Pauline is survived by her 5 children: Ann Marie Lemire (Cairns) of South Portland; Ron Lemire and his wife, Chrissi, of Boulder, CO; Jeanne (Lemire) McMullen of Portland, and her husband, Allen McMullen of Morganton, NC; Ray Lemire of Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia; and Donna (Lemire) Cotton and her husband, Jim, of Glenburn, ME; her 8 grandchildren (Sophia and Lily Lemire, Matthew and Sarah Savage, Jessica and Reggie Lemire, and Katie and Ben Cotton); her step- grandson (Alistair Cairns and his wife, Robin Rice); her step-granddaughters (Janice (Cairns) Tolman and her husband, David, and Leilea Satori and her partner, Brian Mace); her 4 step-great-grandchildren (Ryan and Kyle Tolman and Hoku Lani and Harmony); 1 step-great, great grandson (Owen Tolman); her sister, Olive (Lessard) Caron of Berlin, NH; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Henry, sisters Jeannette and Lucille, brothers Robert, Norman, Aime, Edward, and Gerard, and son-in-law Alexander Cairns.
