Mrs. Mary-Sue Hansen, 82, of Sanford, passed away Friday, May 15th 2020 at Gosnell Hospice House.
Sue was born December 19th 1937 in Biddeford, Maine to the late David Twomey and Ann Prescott Twomey. She is pre-deceased by her brother David Twomey and her sister Joyce Twomey.
She served in the United States Navy before returning to Biddeford where she spent 35 years at Southern Maine Medical Center working in the Histology Lab.
Sue met her husband, Leslie Hansen while serving in the Navy in Portsmouth, Virginia. They married in 1959 and enjoyed camping and fishing together while raising their 3 children.
She loved coaching youth sports and was an active participant in the athletic booster club. She would watch most any sport on TV with particular interest in the Red Sox and Patriots.
Sue was very proud of her Irish heritage. A lifetime highlight was a trip to Ireland with her husband Les prior to his passing.
Mrs. Hansen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Deborah and Eric Lund of Alfred, Maine; son David Hansen of Jacksonville, Florida; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Dawn Hansen of Springvale, Maine; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Memorial Donations can be made to Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 US Rte One, Scarborough, ME 04074, where the family received thoughtful care and support. The family is grateful to have had the opportunity to be by her side when she passed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel.
