Guy Farrell, 87, of Biddeford, passed away on the evening of Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at Huntington Common, in Kennebunk, after a brief illness. He was born in St. Georges, Quebec, on July 2, 1932, to Adelard and Claudia (Goulet) Farrell, while his family was in Canada visiting relatives. As a child, he enjoyed playing sports and spending time swimming at Wilcox Pond. He was a speed skater who competed in many tournaments, from the West Brook Skating Rink to the Boston Garden. He attended St. Louis Highschool and played basketball for their team.
After graduating, Guy joined the US Navy Reserve and was also a Deputy Sheriff. Later in life, he worked at Lund Manufacturing in Saco. For the remainder of his professional career, he was the Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Biddeford. After retirement, he worked as a ranger for the Dutch Elm Golf Course several days a week.
On June 8, 1957, Guy married his beloved wife, Paula Labbe, at St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford. They were married for 59 years, before her death, in 2017. Together, they enjoyed numerous vacations in Cape Cod and at the Samoset Resort, and spent countless hours of their summers on Biddeford Pool Beach with family and friends.
Guy was a proud St. Louis Alumni, and a long-time member of the Dutch Elm Golf Course, where he spent most of his leisure time. He competed in many golf tournaments over the years. He also participated in league bowling for a good portion of his life, but his one true passion was always golf.
He leaves behind his son, David Farrell and wife Sarah of Saco, grandchildren; Felix, Jasper, and Addie, Godson Tom Katon of Saco, Goddaughter Donna Taschereau of Arundel, and his beloved Siamese cat, Mr. Lee.
He was predeceased by his wife, Paula (Labbe) Farrell, his three brothers, Wallace, Robert, and Roland, and his two sisters, Yvette and Raymonde.
The family would like to thank the entire loving staff at Huntington Common in Kennebunk for taking exceptional care of Guy over the last three years, during the most difficult time of his life. You are all truly amazing and cherished, God Bless.
