Francis Edmund Cantara, Jr., 80, died unexpectedly at his home in Biddeford, Maine on January 3, 2021. He was born in Portland, Maine on July 13, 1940 to Margaret (Hughes) and Francis E. Cantara, Sr. He was educated through the Biddeford Public School system and received a B.A. from St. Dunstan’s University on Prince Edward Island, Canada.
For many years, Frank taught history, English and Latin in several Biddeford public schools and Noble High School in North Berwick before retiring to pursue other interests.
Frank was an accomplished artist focusing on figurative, portrait and still life painting. He was an avid reader, a sports enthusiast, particularly the Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He had a love for travel with frequent visits to one of his favorite destinations, Prince Edward Island. Frank was also a volunteer at the Opportunity Alliance in Portland and the Sam L. Cohen Adult Day Center in Biddeford.
Frank leaves behind his fiancée Judy Richardson of Biddeford, ME, his daughter, Maureen Cantara of New York, NY son Michael Cantara, daughter-in-law Joanne and grandson, Max Cantara all from Weston, MA.
