Frances Claire Graves, 75 years old, of North Waterboro and formerly of Saco, passed away on August 13, 2020, after a long battle with COPD and a brief stay at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. Born on January 24, 1945 in Lynn, MA, the daughter of Mary and Herbert Phinney, Sr., she was one of six children.
Fran graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 1962 and held various jobs that included The Hook & Ladder in Lynn, John Hancock Life Insurance in Boston, The Peabody School Department and Walmart. For years she served as a volunteer grandparent in Buxton Elementary and Waterboro Elementary schools. She enjoyed making hats that she donated to The Salvation Army, Mercy Hospital NICU and various churches and her cat Boots.
Her proudest moment was when she chose to donate her body to The University of New England Anatomical Donor Program with hopes to aid in the research of COPD for others. She is survived by her daughter Robyn Hansen and her spouse, Karen Thurston; her sister Susan Palata; three grandchildren, Courtney Johnson, Christopher Hansen and Callista-Anne Hansen; 5 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Joseph Paul Ellis, Jr.
