Obituary

Fleurette Therese Lizotte, age 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 25, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Fleurette was born on September 1, 1926 to the late Raoul and Egline (Dube) Nadeau. After graduating from St. Andre’s High School, she met Jean Paul “Mike” Lizotte. They were married on May 29, 1948 and celebrated 70 years together in 2018.

Fleurette was a strong, faithful, compassionate woman who was known for her kind and gentle spirit. A nurturer by nature, she was a tireless advocate for those with physical and developmental disabilities. Having a child with special needs brought out a determination to ensure that all children and adults had opportunities to reach their potential, enjoy life and become contributing members of their community.

She was an active volunteer and participant at the Woodfords School in Portland (now known as Woodfords Family Services). Fleurette was involved with Camp Waban since its inception, to provide summer, recreational activities to children and adults with developmental disabilities. She was also a steadfast supporter and volunteer for the Special Olympics for many years.

Fleurette enjoyed traveling with her husband Mike, painting, and reading. Most importantly, she relished time spent with her siblings, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted wife and mother to her family. Her nurturing spirit will live on in all who were lucky to have her in their life.

Along with her parents, Fleurette is preceded in death by her loving husband, Mike; her daughter, Janice Lizotte; and several siblings.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Diane Loranger and husband, Roland of Saco; daughter, Suzanne Lavigne and husband, Donald of Biddeford; and son, Guy and wife, Karen of Greensboro, NC; six grandchildren, Michael, Sarah, Jennifer, Scott, Allison and Jacques; as well as a host of great-grandchildren.

Hope Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with Fleurette’s care, and she will be laid to rest during a private graveside service at 1 pm on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
