87; Biddeford, ME
Eleanor Lydick, 87, of Biddeford passed away peacefully on February 9, 2021. Born October 2, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Lottie Schnare and Robert Slater of Boston. She grew up and attended school in the Boston area, earning a degree in Education. Eleanor was a member of the Community Church of Neponset. She was a devoted Aunt and enjoyed taking her niece and nephew to the beach, zoo and area attractions. Eleanor moved to Berwick, Maine in the 70’s, where she and her husband resided for many years. Eleanor worked in the banking industry and retired from the Federal Savings Bank. She worked at both Dover and Durham locations.
Throughout her life, Eleanor was a woman of great faith. She was a dedicated member of the Durham Evangelical Church. She spent much time corresponding with a long list of missionaries and friends she made along the way. The church also led Eleanor to a life of philanthropy, and she was honored to serve on Stephen Ministries through the church.
Eleanor cherished the wonderful friendships that she had formed throughout the years. Most she had met through her church, and some she met through her membership in the Red Hat Society. Eleanor always made an effort to stay connected with those she loved, no matter where life had taken them. When Eleanor was able to get away, she enjoyed travelling. On several occasions she drove her friend to Florida. She also traveled to Holland, took a train trip across the country and visited Israel. It was there that she met her best friend, only to realize that they were living in the same hometown.
Along with her parents, and two brothers, Eleanor is predeceased by her loving husband, Theron Lydick.
Left to cherish her memory are her nieces, Ellen Paquette and husband, Michael, Victoria Davis and her husband, Bill; nephew, Robert David Slater; great-nieces and nephews, Misty Ayer, Benjamin Ayer his wife, Amanda and their daughter Relic, Leslie, Allison, and Theodore Davis; best friend, Diane Crandall and a host of dear friends.
