Arlene P. Menard, 72, of Biddeford died January 26, 2021 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. Born in Biddeford on August 11, 1948, she was the daughter of Doris A. Menard.
Arlene joined the workforce of the Pepperell Mills as a Textile Manufacturer. After the closure of the plant in the late 1990’s, she joined the Hannaford team and remained there until she retired in 2014. Arlene was a long term resident of over thirty years at the Thacher Hotel. She built a life there and founded many friendships. Arlene put herself back into school to obtain her high school diploma in 2005. This was one of the proudest moments of Arlene’s life.
Arlene was a lover of pets and she made sure to say hello to every dog or cat she saw throughout her life. She was especially fond of Sheeba, the office mascot, and enjoyed seeing her whenever she could. Arlene enjoyed visiting the Elvis’ in Old Orchard Beach, completing fill-in puzzle books and watching her old shows and movies on her little black and white TV. She was described by her friends as an independent and sassy woman. Her favorite color was purple. She always had something purple on and kept her fingernails painted purple. Arlene was a lover of jewelry; her collection of rings and earrings was incredible.
Arlene was a woman who lived simply. Her community in the Thacher and in Biddeford were incredibly important to her and the impact she made on her small circle has a lasting impression. She is survived by her best friends, Audra and Leslie, as well as a host of individuals among the community who love her as fiercely as she loved them.
A Celebration of Life will be hosted by her friends once COVID-19 regulations have been lifted.
