Alia Bennett, 36, of Biddeford passed away in her sleep on April, 14th, 2021.
Alia was born July 17th, 1984 in Brooklyn, New York to Mr. Bader Saleh and Ms. Wanda Rivera Saleh. She attended Science Skills Center High School in Brooklyn, New York and receiving her associate’s degree from York County Community College.
Alia has lived in Biddeford for the past 15 years and worked as a Claims Analyst for Prudential Life Insurance for the last 3 years.
Alia loved helping people, volunteering at numerous organizations in the Biddeford/ Saco area. She raised funds for Multiple Sclerosis, volunteered helping in homeless shelters and soup kitchens. As one friend described “Alia was such an amazing friend, amazing mom, and amazing human. I am so blessed to have a friend like her.”
Alia had a love for music, playing first chair flute for the Italian Heritage Center Band for over 10 years as well as playing for the high school band and for the New York City All City Marching Band. She also performed at Queen of All Saints Church in Brooklyn for over 20 years as well as taught their Children’s Chime Choir.
Alia is survived by her daughter Anastasia Bennett of Biddeford; mother Wanda Saleh of Biddeford; fiancé Paul Berroteran of Biddeford; sister Nadia Serrano of Bronx, New York.
Visiting Hours will 6:00-8:00p.m. on Wednesday, April 28th, 2021 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005. A funeral outside of Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 29th, 2021 at Hope Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Biddeford.
