Obituary

Alcide A. Boucher, 99, of Biddeford, passed away on February 14, 2020. He was born on September 25, 1920 in Biddeford to Joseph and Annie (Lemire) Boucher.

Alcide grew up in Biddeford and was educated locally, graduating from St. Louis High School in 1939. He was a proud and decorated Army Veteran, having enlisted on November 16, 1942, and being part of the 318 th Infantry Regiment. He qualified as a Carbine Expert participating in combat in Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe and earned an American Theater Campaign Ribbon, and Victory Medal. After the war, he married Anita Binette at St. André’s Church on November 27, 1947. They raised two daughters, Charlene and Jane. Alcide worked at the Saco-Lowell Shops before and after WWII and at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 24 years before retiring in January 1982. Alcide had a lifelong love of sports. He played baseball and football for St. Louis High School and enjoyed golfing well into his 90’s. In addition, no fall Sunday was complete unless he was cheering for his beloved Patriots. After retirement, Alcide and Anita travelled frequently to New York and Florida, as well as cross-country, Europe and the Maritime Provinces.

Alcide is survived by his two daughters: Charlene Rana and her husband, Louis of Marco Island, Florida and Jane Goulet and her husband, Michael of Biddeford.

Two grandchildren: Dr. Adam Rana, and his wife, Christie and Anne Aberle, and her husband, Matt. Six great grandchildren: William, Harrison, Charlotte, Leonie, James, and Louie Alcide. He is predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Anita.

Visiting Hours will be 4:00 to 6:00p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Hope. Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00a.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Church in St. Anne’s Chapel at 178 Elm St., Biddeford. Burial will follow at St.Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Alcide’s name to St. André Health Care Facility, 407 Pool St., Biddeford, ME 04005.
