Simonne Therese Lavoie of Biddeford died Tuesday, December 24, 2019, at Southern Maine Health Care surrounded by her loved ones. She was born September 22, 1929, in Biddeford to Gedeon and Florida (Paul) Moisan. She was educated at St. Joseph’s School and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1949.
She married Joseph Gerard Lavoie on October 22, 1960 at St. Joseph’s Church. She worked at Roland’s Jewelry store then Sears Roebuck for ten years doing clerical work. She then retired to raise her family and later her grandchildren.
She was a member of the Good Shepherd Parish and was a choir member for over 60 years.
Survivors include her husband Joseph Gerard of Biddeford of 59 years, her brothers Robert Moisan and his wife Lucille of Detroit, MI, Conrad Moisan and his wife Joan of Biddeford, her daughter Claire of Biddeford, her son Raymond and his wife Shirley of Norfolk, VA, grandchildren Natalie, Bethany, Destiny, Lora and Joshua and three great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Andre, her sister Jeanine, and her daughter Irene.
Visiting hours will be Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 1-2pm with a special service at 2pm at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford ME 04005. Her ashes will be buried with family at a later date. It was Simonne’s wish that her life be celebrated with donations to St. Jude's Children’s Hospital and Maine Breast Cancer Coalition. It was also Simonne’s wish that we all honor her memory by performing acts of kindness for our friends and neighbors daily.
