Simone Germaine (Lacroix) Goulet, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019. She was born in Biddeford on March 19, 1922. She was the last survivor of 14 children, born of Joseph and Mary (Grenier) Lacroix. She graduated 8th grade at St. Joseph’s School in Biddeford.
She married Urbain A. Goulet on July 5, 1947 at St. Margaret’s Church in Old Orchard Beach.
Simone worked in local shoe shops for 30+ years, then another 30+ for the School Lunch Program in Old Orchard Beach, finally retiring in her 80’s. She lived in Old Orchard Beach for over 65 years, spending the last 2 ½ years at her daughter’s home in Saco.
She was a member of St. Margaret’s Church since the 1940’s and enjoyed reading and spending summers at Barker’s Pond, Lyman, with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In their retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling, including trips to Paris and Israel, and made many trips to the Quebec Winter Carnival.
Simone had a remarkable memory and spent many hours telling tales to her family about her ordinary, yet extraordinary, early life with her parents and siblings. In her words, her memoir would be a “best seller!”
Mrs. Goulet was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Urbain A. Goulet on February 6, 2013, She was also predeceased by her brothers Emile, Gerard, Herve, Charles, Jean Paul, Reginald, Normand, and Joseph, and sisters Dora Langelier, Juliette Gosselin, Yvette Michaud, Rachel Lacroix, Fernande Rounds, and her son-in-law Michael Landry.

4 grandchildren: Daphne Goulet, Jeremy and wife Christine Goulet, Shelley Landry, Tricia and husband Bill Wallace
6 great-grandchildren: Allison, Ryan, and Benjamin Wallace, Emily and Alex Pelletier, and Andrew Goulet.

Visiting Hours will be 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 in the Hope Chapel.
