Richard A. Fecteau

June 2, 1941 ~ January 23, 2018 (age 76)

Richard A. Fecteau, 76, of Biddeford died Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.  He was born June 2, 1941 in Biddeford a son of Fernand A. and Rita Marie (Rheault) Fecteau.  He was educated locally, attending St. Louis High School and graduating from Biddeford High School in 1960.


Richard served in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard.  He had been employed with the Reece Corporation here and A.M.F Reece in Virginia.  He then worked with Idexx for 13 years, retiring in 2012.  Following retirement he worked part-time at Hannaford in Biddeford.


Richard was a member of the American Legion and had served on the Biddeford Planning Board and was an usher at Most Holy Trinity Church.  He was an animal lover, enjoyed playing hockey and broomball and was an avid Biddeford and Boston sports fan.


Preceding him in death was his mother, Rita Fecteau.


He is survived by his wife, Dolores Fecteau of Biddeford; his father, Fernand Fecteau of Biddeford; Son, David Descoteaux, his wife Julia and their son Petey of New York, NY; brothers,  Donald Fecteau and his wife Michelle and Michael Fecteau; sister, Joan Soulard all of Biddeford and several nieces and nephews


Visiting hours will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday the 26th in the Hope Chapel.  Burial will follow the ceremony in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.  Donations in Richard’s memory may be made to: American Legion Post 26, 508 Elm St. Biddeford, ME 04005 or to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 15 Hunnewell Rd.
