Renald R. Berthiaume, 95, of Hope Mills, NC, formerly of Lyman and Biddeford, died on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at his home in Hope Mills, NC. He was born on October 22, 1922 to Jeffries and Georgianna (Nolette) Berthiaume in Biddeford. He attended local schools.
On November 11, 1942, he married Hermance J. Binette at St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford. They spent 66 years together until her death on August 20, 2009.
Renald proudly served in the United States Army. When he returned from his service, he went on to work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until his retirement in the late 1970’s. He was dedicated to helping his fellow service members. He belonged to the AmVETS, NARF, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Hospitalized Veterans, Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund “The Wall Society”, Toys for Tots, and the Voice of Democracy. He was a lifetime member and past Post Commander at the VFW, Biddeford Post #7997. When he wasn’t helping his fellow veterans, he volunteered at Bon Appetite Food Bank and was a member of the American Order of the French Croix De Guerre, Inc. and the Knights of Columbus. He and Hermance were involved with the Good Shepherd Parish. He was a lector and an usher at St. Philips Church in Lyman.
He is preceded in death by his sister and 3 brothers.

8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews
Visiting Hours will be 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
