Philip H. Sanford, 88, of Kennebunk died peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Atria. He was born on July 30, 1929 to Floyd S. and Lydia B. Sanford in Bronxville, NY. He was the youngest of seven children.


He graduated from Bronxville High School and was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. He attended the University of Richmond but later decided to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. After he was discharged, he returned to Bronxville and joined William B. Sanford in the packaging business.


In 1952 he met Arline Dorman from Englewood, NJ, who was attending Sarah Lawerence College and they were married in 1954.


Phil was the owner and president of Sanford Packaging Company for 45 years. He also developed the Medfield Fitness Center, which was a special project for him and his community. He retired in York, ME in 2001 at the age of 72.


He was a volunteer at York Hospital and the Heart Health Institute. His passion was outdoor activities, which included being an avid golfer at York Golf and Tennis Club. He also became the president of York River Farms Condo Association for several years.


He truly loved his family and is survived by:
