Norman R. Poirier, 86, of Biddeford died Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford. He was born May 25, 1931 in Biddeford, a son of George and Rosa (Sylvestre) Poirier and was educated locally.
Norman served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
On April 19, 1955 he married Marguerite A. Paquet in St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford.
He had been employed as a Biddeford police officer, and had worked as a salesman for Delorge Bakery. Norman was a shipping supervisor at West Point Pepperell, and then head custodian at Biddeford High School until his retirement. During his retirement he worked part time at Biddeford Savings as a parking lot attendant.
Norman was a member of St. Louis Alumni Association. He had served on the Police Commission under mayors Deschambeault, Pomerleau, Gaulin, Lemire, Dutremble and Frechette; he was a city councilor during the administration of Mayor Dutremble and was a member of the School Board with mayor Dion.

He is survived by:
Marguerite Poirier, his wife of 62 years, of Biddeford.

1 daughter: Rachel Hallczuk and her husband Ryan of Biddeford

Visiting Hours will be 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Hope Memorial Chapel 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
