Leo Raymond Cote, 90 of Biddeford Maine passed away on October 5, 2019 after a long illness. Leo is survived by his wife Doris Cote of 65 years, his son Roger Cote, daughter Joan all of Biddeford, two grandchildren Lynn Rindfusz and her husband Jared of Port Saint Lucie Florida and Denise Aldrich and her husband David from Round Rock Texas and five great grandchildren Andrew, Noella, Samantha, Meghan, Joshua. He is also survived by one sister Pauline Paquette and many nieces and nephews. Leo was pre-deceased by his brothers Rosaire, Roland, George (Bobby), sisters Yvonne, Irene, Jeanette, Loretta, Rita and Anita and their spouses.
Leo was born to Amanda and Xavier Cote October 31, 1928 in Amesbury Massachusetts. He joined the Army on January 3, 1951 and served through December 11, 1956. As a young man Leo enjoyed his motorcycles and working on his hotrods. Leo was in the military when he and Doris began communicating through letters. On Christmas Eve 1952 Leo knocked on Doris’ door where they met for the first time and married June 12, 1954.
Leo worked doing various jobs including the shoe shop in Westbrook, as a plumber with his brother-in-law Phillip and eventually worked for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he retired at 58. He enjoyed a long and happy retirement always working on something around the house. He was a brilliant handyman and invented many things to make tasks easier and smarter. He was a mechanic, carpenter, electrician, plumber, did masonry, roofing and whatever was needed, he did it and continued to do so until illness prevented him from working on projects.
Leo was a Beloved Husband and Father and will be missed very much. We know you are in God’s Loving Hands; may you rest in peace until we join you and see you again!
Visiting Hours will 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
