Etta M. Messier, 95, of Biddeford died Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford. She was born on August 30, 1922 to Edward and Esther (Kavanaugh) Lockwood in Morristown, NJ. After graduating high school, she went on to nursing school.
On September 26, 1944, she married Jean M. Messier at Our Lady of Carmel Church in Boonton, NJ. They spent 55 years together until his death on April 11, 1999.
She worked as an R.N. until her retirement in 1978. Jean and Etta moved to Biddeford in 1993. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and knitting.
She is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Edward and George Lockwood; and 2 sisters, Marie Brett and Melissa Magill.

11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, as well as multiple nieces and nephews
Visiting hours will be 4 -7 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. Anne’s Chapel at St. Josephs Church in Biddeford. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
