Donald I. Sanborn, 83 of Kennebunkport passed away on Thursday, July 20th, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born on September 6th, 1933 to Lorenzo and Gladys Elora (Whittemore) Sanborn in Windham, ME. He proudly served in the United States Army as a chef for four years.
On January 26th, 1957, he married Roberta White at Allen Ave Unitarian Church in Portland, ME.
He had left school after the tenth grade to work at Nissan’s Bakery to help support the family. He worked a few years as a farmer and then as a sardine fisherman. He was then a lobsterman for 32 years and for 30 of them he also owned Sanborn’s Lobster’s and Veggies. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities, including gardening, hunting, camping, skiing, ice skating, fishing, and he loved to take his family to the Deerfield fair.
He loved his children and grandchildren very much, as well as his animals.
He is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Leonard and Kenneth Sanborn; and 2 sisters, Judy Keenan and Marilyn Campbell.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 27th, 2017 at the Church on the Cape, 3 Langsford Rd., Kennebunkport, ME 04046.
