Aurele Dumont, 73, of Biddeford, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, October 1, 2011, at Southern Maine Medical Center. He was born February 2, 1938 in Dégelis, QC, Canada, a son of Pierre and Elisiane (Soucy) Dumont.

He married Monique Beaulieu in Packington, QC, Canada, on August 6, 1960. They relocated to Biddeford, ME in 1963.

After moving to Biddeford, Aurele worked at the local shoe shops in Biddeford and Saco before taking work with Irving Sandler Brothers and, later, Collins Bros., building homes. He then went to work for Nelson Raymond Jr., Kennebunk, as a carpenter for over 10 years. He became a self-employed sub-contractor with his son, Nelson, for over 12 years. Aurele also co-owned Rivergate Antiques, Kennebunk, with his wife over 15 years.

He and his wife are parishioners of St. Joseph Church and former St. Andre’s Church, Good Shepherd Parish.

Aurele loved working and helping his children work on their homes. He enjoyed going out to dinner with his family and friends, as well as many card games played late into the evening. He liked to piece together jigsaw puzzles and, when a piece went missing, would make his own piece to finish off his masterpiece. Aurele loved spending time with his family and was never afraid to get down on the ground to play with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
