Lina Chenard, 90, of Saco died peacefully on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at St. Andre’s Healthcare Facility in Biddeford with her loving family by her side. She was born in Asbestos, P.Q., Canada on October 16, 1921, a daughter of Alfred and Clara (Bourassa) Guay. She was educated in Canada and moved to the area at the age of 15.
Lina started working in area textile mills. She went on to work as the owner/operator for Silver Spring Haven Cottages in Saco for 8 years. Her most important job was raising her 6 children. She enjoyed being with her family and loved ones the most.
On August 16, 1941 she married Roland Chenard at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Saco. He predeceased her in 1996.
She was a member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Saco and was a member of the St. Anne’s Sodality. She was well known for knitting baby afghans for many of the children who were baptized throughout the Good Shepherd Parish.
Lina was preceded in death by her sister Beatrice Blais in 2010.
She is survived by:
4 daughters: Jan Woodman and her husband Harmon of Buxton
Carol Lombard and her husband Russell of Scarborough
Dyana Anastasoff of South Portland
Lynn Verrill and her husband Thomas of Danville, VA
2 sons: Ron Chenard and his wife Leanne of Freeport
Roger Chenard and his wife Jody Powers of Saco
grandchildren: Lisa, Todd, Robyn & Jason Woodman, Chenston Chenard, Corey Fravert, Carrie Jowett, Wendy Lombard, Alexander & Sasha Anastasoff, William & Jay Verrill and Rebecca & Rachel Chenard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005.
