Rita Petit, 84, of Biddeford died on June 27, 2012 at Seal Rock Healthcare in Saco. She was born in Wallagrass, ME, a daughter of Romeo J.B. and Celina (Ouellette) Michaud. She was educated in Wallagrass, Eagle Lake and Fort Kent schools. She came to the Biddeford area in 1941 and attended Biddeford High School.
On October 16, 1970 she married Adrien Petit in Biddeford.
She started her career at Woolworth Department Store in Biddeford where she worked for 2 years. She went on to work at area shoe shops for over 2 years. Rita then went on to work at Carolís Discount Store in Biddeford for 4 years. She ended her career at the Maremont Corp. / Saco Defense for over 20 years retiring in 1989.
Rita was a member of Le Club Voltigeur, York County Veterans Alliance & the Rochambeau snow shoe clubs. She was a charter member of the Waterboro Eagles Club, a member of the Biddeford AMVETS, where she served as President and State Chaplain of the Auxilliary and was the last Gold Star Mother of AMVETS Post #1. Rita enjoyed crochetting, sewing and playing Bingo.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers Camille and Joseph Michaud and one sister, Tina Bedard.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years of Biddeford

A 10:00 a.m. graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005.
