Ronald G. Caron, Sr. Esq.

Birth Date: Mar. 29, 1948

Death Date: May 18, 2012

Ronald G. Caron, Sr. Esq., 64, of Saco died peacefully Friday evening, May 18, 2012 at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford. He was born in Biddeford, the second of three sons of Edward L. Caron, Sr. and Elizabeth Tibbetts Caron.

Ron’s educational pursuits included Biddeford High School, the University of Miami and the New England School of Law. Following a brief term as an Associate District Attorney for York County, he started his own law firm in the Biddeford-Saco area where he practiced for more than 30 years. He developed a reputation as a skilled trial attorney often taking difficult cases passed over by other lawyers. He loved the practice of law and providing service to his community, particularly to those with significant needs and limited access to the legal process. He was regarded by many of his professional colleagues as a “lawyer’s lawyer”.

Ron’s other passion included boating. He spent much of his leisure time on the ocean. He loved to fish and explore the beauty of the Maine coast. He also loved to travel and felt fortunate to have been able to visit Ireland in 2006.

Surviving are:

his son: Ronald G. Caron, Jr. of Boise, ID

2 brothers: Edward L. Caron, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Merritt Island, FL
Richard J. Caron of Coconut Grove, FL

his longtime friend and companion: Juanita Phillips of Portland

1 niece and 1 nephew

My heartfelt condolences to all whom he left behind. Ron Caron was one of the first opposing attorneys I faced; he was gracious, generous and reasonable in all of my dealings with him. Every time I've driven by his office over the past 7 years, I've gotten a warm glow just from being reminded of Ron and Juanita and how kind and supportive they were to me.

I was sorry to learn of Ron's passing. My Mother worked for the "Caron's" for many years and always thought of them as her special son's! Ron brought her meat pies at Christmas which she enjoyed but loved his visits more. My condolences.

Dear Ed & family:
I was saddened to hear of Ron's passing. He took me aside from time to time when I first started practicing 30 years ago and told me what was what and how to be. I tried to model myself after him then, and have tried to hold on to the things he taught me. I also remember his gracious generosity in my hour of legal need. Mostly I remember his fearless humor and sincere friendship. I am sorry for your loss.

I first met Ron in the early 80's through his good friend Craig. Though Ron was just an acquaintance, I always enjoyed chatting with him whenever we ran into each other, which was frequent due to my work at the District Court. Ron was a fun person to be around, he emitted laughter and had such a zest for life. Rest in Peace Ron, you will be sorely missed.
