Roland D. Deschambault Sr., 76, of Biddeford died Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. He was born March 31, 1941 in Stewartstown, NH- a son of Edward and Rose Emma (Hamel) Deschambault. Roland was educated in Biddeford and was a graduate of St. Louis High School, class of 1960. He was a member of the St. Louis Alumni Association.
Earlier in his career, he had been employed with Saco-Lowell/Maremont in Saco, but retired in 2001 from the Polaroid Corporation after 38 years with the company.
Roland was a colorful character who would talk to anyone. He enjoyed good food, fancy cars, great music and dancing. He often reminisced about his high school days when he was known by everyone as “Frenchie” and played football for the St. Louis Eagles. He made a home in Lynn, Massachusetts for many years with his then wife Rose Marie (LeBlanc) Deschambault where they raised a family together, but returned to his hometown of Biddeford in 2005 to live out his days of retirement. Roland was a beloved husband, father and Papa.
On December 19, 2015 he married Hoa Lam in Saco who was a faithful and caring companion during the last years of his life.

1 stepdaughter, Cathie Buotte of Gorham,
1 Sister Pauline Shrout of Willimantic, CT,
2 brothers: Robert Deschambault of Pensacola, FL and Raymond Deschambault and his wife Cecelia of Bedford, NH
6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be at Hope Memorial Chapel 480 Elm Street in Biddeford from 4-6 pm on Friday, September 29, 2017 followed by a funeral service at 6 pm at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 30 at 11:45 am in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford. To share condolences online, please visit www.HopeMemorial.com.
