Jeannette T. Croteau

Jeannette T. Croteau, 94, formerly of Biddeford, died Friday, September 29, 2017 at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  She was born July 7, 1923 in Biddeford a daughter of Augustin and Annabelle (Girouard) Lavigne and was educated locally.

 

A hard worker, Jeannette had worked as a stitcher in local shoe shops and also as a housekeeper in private homes, all while caring for her family.

 

Jeannette was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Biddeford.  She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion Auxiliaries.  She excelled at sewing, needlepoint, rug hooking, crocheting and knitting.  Jeannette enjoyed listening to music and walking.

 

Her first husband Raymond Perreault, died in 1967; Ralph M. Croteau, her second husband died in 1990.  She was also predeceased by: her son, Donald Perreault last year, a brother Romeo Lavigne and two sisters: Juliette Lamothe and Beatrice Daudelin.

 

Surviving are;

          4 daughters: Dolores Chase of Harwich, MA

                               Paulette Merrick of Scarborough

                               Pauline Clement of Lyman

                               Suzanne Turcotte and her husband Don of Biddeford

          16 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews

 

Visiting Hours will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Hope Memorial Chapel 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005.   A mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anne’s Chapel of St. Joseph Church.
