Florian "Bud" Legros, 77, of Arundel, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Maine Medical Center. He was born in St. Pamphile, P.Q., Canada, the youngest son in the family of ten children of Alphonse and Marie Rose (Pelletier) Legros. He went to school in Canada and came to Maine at the age of eleven. He graduated from Kennebunk High School in 1960.
On May 23, 1964 he married Frances Lemire at St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford.
Starting at the age of 12 his passion for gardening began through working for a various gardeners and later Day's Dairy Farm. After 11 years at the Saco Tannery, he became a master plumber and worked for Foss Metal and Plumbing. In the Seventies he opened Legros Garden Center in Arundel, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2003. During that period he also served as Arundel’s plumbing inspector and Code Enforcement Officer.
Bud was a member of the Elks in New Port Richey, FL, and a member of the Arundel Historical Society. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, traveling and wintering in Florida with his wife and dogs, Vinny and Chili, for several years. Family was of utmost importance to him.
Preceding him in death were 5 siblings: Laurencia Merrill, Jeannette Petrin, Jean Eude, Guy, and Hugues Legros.
He is survived by:
Frances Legros, his wife of 53 years,
2 daughters: Lisa Legros and her significant other, David Gilley
Lynne Paris and her significant other, John Poissant
7 grandchildren: Shawna, Keith, Vanessa, Cassandra, Anthony, Gino, Johlyn, and 11 great-grandchildren
4 sisters: Victorine Cote, Sylvette Fay, Murielle Wallace, and Florence Legros
