De Thi Fredette, 75, of Sanford died on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 surrounded by family. She was born on March 12, 1943 to Dau Nguyen Van and Thuat Thi Tran in Gò Công, Vietnam.
In 1969, she married Willie Fredette, Jr. in Vietnam. A few years after they married, they moved to the United States. They spent 17 years together until his death on May 31, 1986.
De had a courageous and fulfilled life. Speaking little English and not knowing anyone but her husband and children she left her country to start a life in the United States. She learned English, got her driver’s license, and had many careers. After being widowed, she went to work as a machine operator for Sprague Electric. Where she retired after 15 years. She was an avid gardener. Her astonishing green thumb earned her a horticultural award in 2013. Most of all she was a loving mother to all of her children and grandchildren.
De is survived by:
Her daughter, Theresa Nguyen and her husband Hason of Sanford; her daughter, Tran DePalo and her husband Timothy of Dover, NH; her daughter, Nathlie LaCourse and her husband Robert of Old Orchard Beach, her son, Willie Fredette, III of Florida; as well as four more children in Vietnam. She also has 21 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Friday March 23rd at 1:00PM, Nasson Little Theater, 457 Main Street, Springvale, Maine. All family and friends are welcome to come celebrate De’s life.
