Welcome to the memorial page for

Constance S. Talbot

September 16, 1934 ~ October 1, 2017 (age 83)

Connie Smith Talbot died peacefully at Seal Rock Healthcare in Saco, Maine on October 1, 2017 at the age of 83.  Connie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Samuel W. Talbot; children Cathy Talbot Ashton and her husband Don and sons Zeben and Nathan; Bruce Talbot, his wife Cecilia and children Devin Cecille, Samuel Rodrigo, and Nina Elizabeth; Nancy Talbot and Martha Lafferty; Chris Talbot and his wife Sandra; Margo Morin and her husband, Scott; as well as sisters Catherine Wallace, Nancy Carmichael, and Lynne Gagnon, and sister-in-law Alice Brooks, many beloved nieces, nephews, and a great extended family.

Connie was born on September 16, 1934 in Augusta, Maine to Caroline and Guilford Smith, grew up in Mapleton in Aroostook County and graduated from Farmington State Teachers College in 1956 where she majored in home economics and was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.  She married her college sweetheart in 1956, taught high school home economics for one year and then began her calling as Mom.  She also shared her love of knitting with many Adult Education students and served for many years as Chairperson of the Board of Voter Registration for the Town of Topsham.

Connie will be remembered for many things, among them her wonderful oatmeal bread, the many sweaters made with care and love (including the “family sweater” that she made at least a dozen times and many baby sweaters), the meals she could produce with little notice to feed her family and whomever else wandered in at the last moment, and her love for ice cream, particularly coffee frappes.  She was at her happiest when all of her children and grandchildren were together, celebrating some family milestone or just for the fun of it, and when attending a Smith family or Mapleton Daze reunion.

Visiting hours will take place at 10:00 am, immediately prior to Mass at 11:00 and followed by a reception at St. Charles Borromeo in Brunswick, on Friday, October 6, 2017.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Connie’s life.  Flowers may be sent to St. Charles Borromeo.  To express condolences online go to www.HopeMemorial.com
