Welcome to the memorial page for

Anna R. LeBlanc

January 27, 1932 ~ March 8, 2017 (age 85)

Anna Russ Smith LeBlanc, age 85, died on March 8, 2017.  She was born in Alfred, Maine on January 27, 1932, daughter of Guy and Alice (Coombs) Smith.   Anna, a life-long resident of Kennebunk, grew up in the home built in 1877 by her great grandfather, Samuel Smith.  It was here that she was married, raised her family, and peacefully passed away.

Anna was a 1950 graduate of Kennebunk High School.  She married Arthur Francis LeBlanc, Jr. on September 9, 1950.  Anna loved spending summers at the camp she and Arthur built on Long Pond in Belgrade, Maine.  Many enjoyable days were spent there with family and friends, where many wonderful memories were created. Anna and Arthur traveled throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, and Europe, and upon retirement, they wintered in Florida, where they enjoyed an active life in their community.

Anna will be fondly remembered for her strength of character, integrity, and love of family.  She will be sadly missed, especially by her fiercely loved English Spaniel, Willa.

Anna was predeceased by her parents, Guy and Alice Smith; her beloved husband of 64 years, Arthur LeBlanc; and her adored brother, Arnold Smith.  She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Ellen and Fred Almquist of Orland, Maine; Donna and Danny Veilleux of Oakland, Maine; Mark and Diane LeBlanc of Arundel, Maine; Susan and Joseph Malley of Kennebunk, Maine; Martha and Jeff Goebel of Biddeford, Maine; and Laurie and Bryan Kimball of Kennebunk, Maine; her fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren and a new baby to be born soon.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses who gave her care throughout her 30 year battle with cancer and to Hospice of Southern Maine for the excellent care she received in her final days.

Those who wish to remember Anna in a special way may make gifts in her memory to The Animal Welfare Society, P.O. Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094, or to The Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 US Route 1, Scarborough, ME 04074.
